Pǐ represents blockage, stagnation, and disconnection. Unlike Hexagram 11 (Tài), where Heaven and Earth flow together in harmony, here they move apart, creating disharmony and obstruction. Progress is difficult, and efforts may feel stuck. The wise person does not force change but instead remains patient, conserving energy and waiting for the right moment to act.

Heaven rises while Earth sinks—there is no connection between the two. This symbolizes a time of separation, where understanding, communication, and movement are hindered. Just as winter follows autumn, difficult times are a natural part of life’s cycles.
